Fundraising Projects And Events
Fundraising projects and events are aimed at assisting the shelter financially. AWS PE receives no government funding and only exists thanks to the support of public donations and the goodwill of animal lovers.
We host a variety of in-house “FUN”draising events during the year to encourage the public to visit our shelter and engage with our animals and also to raise funds for specific needs. A few annual events that our supporters look forward to include our Summer Sleepover, Cattuchino Morning, Mandela Day Activities, Golf Day, Christmas Market & Shampooch Day and various other Adoption Days. We also run a Christmas Furry Box campaign so that we can treat the pets who have to spend Christmas living in the shelter.
Please like and follow our Facebook page to keep up to date with current Fundraising events. We also make use of this platform to share urgent appeals - when there is a food shortage or when our animals are cold and need blankets.
We'd love to have you become involved in any of the above events or if you have an idea for a potential fundraiser or collection drive, even better! It's wonderful to have local businesses engage in trade-for-aid campaigns in support of our society or allow us to put up a food collection box on their premises as part of a food drive. We also have lots of individuals who do their bit by getting friends together and donating for a birthday or special celebration! Summer Sleepover
Put your compassion for animals into practice by spending a night with a shelter dog or cat. Bring your tents and sleeping bags and spend a magical night enjoying love and cuddles. A truly amazing experience that you will never forget. Participants are required to raise funds for AWS PE from their network of family, friends and work colleagues.
Adoption Days
Spend a relaxing afternoon with our shelter animals. Each event is different but focuses on our visitors getting to know our animals and having fun with us. Live music, market stalls and kids entertainment ensure that our Adoption Days are enjoyed by all!
Cattuchino Morning
Crazy cat people unite! Enjoy a morning of socialising and bonding with our beautiful kitties over a cup of coffee and a cupcake. Bookings are essential to ensure your spot!

Mandela Day
This annual global “call to action day” in honour of the late Nelson Mandela allows you to make a difference in your community and you won't regret spending your 67 Mandela Day minutes at AWS PE! Volunteers can socialise with our shelter pups and cats, walk our dogs and assist with small projects at the shelter. We welcome corporates, organisations and individuals!
Golf Day
We're hosting our first charity Golf Day in 2018! We call on sponsors and golfers with a passion for the game to join us for a fun day of golf and challenges in aid of our animals.
Shampooch Day & Christmas Market
The Shampooch Day is hosted by our My Best Friend volunteers and aims to wash and groom all of our shelter dogs! The volunteers have a ball! There's also small market selling various pet related items, pancakes, cupcakes as well as beverages and Christmas Furry Boxes can be dropped off on the day. Prepare to get wet and dirty as our shelter dogs get pampered and bathed!
